SPAIN WENT TO WAR AGAINST THE U.S. BECAUSE SPAIN WANTED THEIR INDEPENDENCE AND THEY WANTED THEIR LAND BACK. CUBA ALSO WANTED TO GAIN THEIR INDEPENDENCE SO THEY GOT INVOLVED TOO. THE U.S DIDN'T AGREE SO THEY WENT TO WAR. THE OUTCOME WAS SIGNIFICANT BECAUSE THE U.S WON THE WAR AND THE GOT FLORIDA AS PART OF THE UNITED STATES.
The Spanish American war was because in 1897 the spanish guerment had promised for a greater self rule in cuba.By that time Spain controlled cuba.The cubans problems had cooled down.but in feburary two events made the americans get angry and they had had called it for a war that was going to start pretty soon.the first battle took place in the philippines land. may 1,1898 the us navy destroyed the spain fleet in manila bay. this war was known as a splendid war with spain. the spanish american war did not take to many year till it ended. it only lasted few months. even though it didnt lasted long it had a huge results.the us had won the war between spain. the result of the spanish american war was that the us had became a world power with oversea.
